Fareed Zakaria is an American political scientist, journalist, and author. He is the host of CNN's Fareed Zakaria GPS and a columnist for The Washington Post. He has written five books, three of which are international best-sellers: The Future of Freedom (2003), The Post-American World (2008), and In Defense of a Liberal Education (2015). His newest book, Ten Lessons for a Post-Pandemic World, was published in 2020. Zakaria was born in India and raised in Bombay. He graduated from Yale University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, and then went on to receive his Ph.D. in Political Science from Harvard University in 1993.
